What is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is useful for:
Neurofeedback is a learning method based on the principles of behaviour therapy (operating conditioning).
The brain is permanent electrically active. We can meassure this activity outside of the sculp bone with modern electrodes. The procedure is called EEG (Electro-Encephalo-Gramm), the taken values are called brain electricity curve (....) Characteristically for the messurement are amplitudes (differences between the electricity) and frequencies (amplitudes per second).
Neurofeedback enables the awareness of the changings of electic brain activity and therefore the feedback of the mental situations (e.g. concentration, vigilance, relaxation or ....
In Neurology the EEG is still a very important tool making a diagnosis. The neurofeedback procedure is only limited usable for diagnostic. We assume that there is already made a diagnosis (e.g. AD(H)D) or that the goal is to improve the capacity of the brain or concentration (e.g. in sport or job activities)
According to new scientific studies, Neurofeedback is is extremly good to use for those things.
Specifically for children the therapy is very helpful. Children with AD(H)D very often feel treaten unfair by their families, their teacher and their peers. With a neurofeedback therapy they could gain back a normal life. This helps to improve their relationships to their families, their friends and their teacher. After all, they gain back the chances, they lost because their different way of behave.
During neurofeedback applications we have different possibilities to influence the brain waves. It depends which goals you apply with positive or negative feedback. A wished change will be „REWARDED“ with the feedback – a unwished change will be „punished“ (at this point we need to say that the terms „reward“ and „punish“ are not used in the sence of the theory of operating conditioning).
The reward or punishment is „taken place“ throu a computer programme, which register the change and afterwards starts or stopps a certain motivation ( which is pre-determined). This motivation could be a light, a simple game, a puzzle or a small movie. The registration of the change and the reward/punishment will be in real-time (within micro-seconds.
Because of this extremly fast feedback of the increase or decrease of the ability to concentrate or the change of the mental situation, it will be a „LEARNING EFFECT“
Neurofeedback Therapy – A Manual to help yourself
Today Neurofeedback Therapy belongs to the innovative Therapies, which can be used for a very wide spectrum of physical and mental disorders. It is based on the fact, that certain physical and mental illnesses or behaviors are associated with certain Brainwave patterns. For example Migraine shows recognizable Brainwave patterns. Through EEG with Neurofeedback those Brainwave patterns can be shown and with this the patient can influence these. In a session, the patient agrees to a change of the pattern through Neurofeedback, and with this the Migraine can be even prevented.
The Neurofeedback Therapy can show even genetic patterns and can help with certain health and mental Problems to avoid medications as a Therapy or at least lower the necessary medication dose.
Treatment possibilities of Neurofeedback Therapy
Neurofeedback Therapy can be used for a lot of different physical and mental disorders and Illnesses and it has also been proven as a Therapy through a lot of scientific studies. Today Neurofeedback as a Therapy is used for example with AD(H)D, Epilepsy, Tinnitus, Autism, Stroke, Addictive Illnesses, Tic disorders, Disorders of fear, Migraine, Depression, Mood changes and Sleep Problems. Neurofeedback Therapy is not a “wonder therapy”, but it is an important and helpful part of a whole Therapy.
